Are You Happy?

ImageYesterday I came home in the afternoon, threw out my plans for the day right out of the window, and then went to bed. I slept off the evening!

There are three things I have realised. Firstly, that I am human and need all the rest I possibly can so I can function in excellence the next day. Secondly, the world will run anyhow, and I am not the one to keep things ticking all the time. Lastly, like most of my medical friends say…“listen to your body”!

Now I know the Bible says that…diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labour…the plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty…the sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied. And here’s this big one…A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest- and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man! Scary? Yes, but so very true!

There are some in our society that are getting habitually lazy. They don’t desire to work, but demand double wages. They don’t desire to take the pains of diligent study, but seek highflying jobs. They can talk the hind legs off a donkey, but do not understand the meaning of humility and servant hood. They live in someone else’s house. They drive someone else’s car and they eat out of someone else’s plate! But…they can sleep and sleep. Because it is comfort they desire, and a little discomfort puts them to pieces. These are your time robbers who will take all your counsel and go back to sleep!

But listen! Poverty is not lack of money of things. True poverty is not obeying the commandments of God and walking in His ways. Think about this…God created the world in six days…and then He rested on the seventh. Adam had a lot of work to do in Eden’s Garden, but began his first day with rest. It’s all about priorities and choices we make. A fireman is excused when he plays ball with his little son. But when the fire alarm goes off he needs to run to the truck and attend that fire…there maybe someone in dire danger. Let us learn to keep our choices in order.

I feel great this morning! God has been speaking to me and I am so very excited in my spirit. My coffee is still warm and tastes really great. Although there is chaos all around, I sense a peaceful atmosphere around me. I have a new song in my heart and a true freedom deep inside me. In short…I’m happy!

Are you? Then go and give that away to someone else who needs it! They maybe still in bed.

Blessings always.
