SO YOU’RE TAKING PAINS?

The Bible talks so much about integrity and honesty.

In the Book of Proverbs 11:3, the Bible emphatically states…the integrity of the upright guides them, but the unfaithful are destroyed by their duplicity. I like the original language and in Hebrew it says, ‘perverseness’ or ‘crooked dealings.’

The Apostle Paul, when writing to the church in the great city of Corinth speaks about his own honesty and says…For we are taking pains to do what is right, not only in the eyes of the Lord but also in the eyes of man.

I once knew a man, more than 40 years ago, who was an expert on locks and had no problems at all opening any kind of them. Whether it was a Godrej ‘Navtal’ or a Yale, made in England, he could open them with an ease and proficiency of an expert. In fact, this was one of his hobbies. He would help others at first, especially those that lost their keys. But later on, got into bad company and started to help his thieving friends.

One day, when I spoke to him, with personal pride and an arrogant disposition, he said to me, “I have never stolen anything in my life!…I just open locks for others, they are the ones that steal…that’s not my problem!”

But one day he realised his false integrity and crooked dealings and turned around completely.

He died soon after that!

The Oxford Dictionary defines integrity as “The quality of being honest and having strong moral principles.”

My conclusion as I blog this morning is this:

God watches us, even if man cannot see or know what you do. You may not be involved yourself to be dishonest but arrange that by others around you…so you can profit.

This is the perversion and crookedness of our society today. And those that have these dealings are destroyed by God Himself, because He says so! And when God says so…He will do it! Whoa!

Let us take pains, do all we can to walk upright, and be moral, before God and before man.
